Cybersecurity Best Practices for Employees

Cybersecurity Best Practices for Employees

At SecureLynx, we help protect your organization by combining advanced security tools with employee awareness. Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility, following these best practices will help keep your data and systems safe.

1. Strong Passwords

  • Use unique passwords for each account.

  • Create complex passwords (12+ characters, mix of letters, numbers, and symbols).

  • Change passwords regularly and never share them.

2. Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

  • Always enable MFA when available.

  • Use an authentication app or security key instead of SMS if possible.

3. Email & Phishing Awareness

  • Do not click suspicious links or open unexpected attachments.

  • Verify the sender’s email address carefully.

  • Report suspicious emails to IT immediately.

4. Device Security

  • Lock your computer or phone when unattended.

  • Keep your operating system and software up to date.

  • Only install applications approved by your IT department.

5. Data Protection

  • Store sensitive data in approved cloud or network drives — not on local devices.

  • Never use personal email or USB drives for company files.

  • Encrypt sensitive documents when possible.

6. Remote Work Safety

  • Always connect through a SecureLynx-approved VPN.

  • Avoid public Wi-Fi unless you use a VPN.

  • Keep work devices separate from personal ones.
